Pros and cons of Sushipedia™ app for iPhone and iPad

Sushipedia™ app good for

This is a very useful app. No need to be connected to the Internet once its been downloaded ( handy because most restaurants are not WiFi ). Nice photos and very user friendly. This app is a must have for all neophyte sushi lovers. ***** 5 stars
This app is a must have for both the sushi expert and the Japanese cuisine newbie. The app has a really intresting but easily to navigate interface. Although the sushi list navigation gets just a little choppy, the ease of use is fantastic. Good job!
Awesome app! Lots of great info about differernt fish, great pix, can search by Japanese name or English names (i.e. Kaki or Oyster) and its FREE!! A must have if you love sushi.
I am goin to Jappaaaaan in the neer future!!! I loooooooooooooove sushi! Almost as much as I loooooove POCKY!!!! I am such an OTAKUUUU! My name is Arman-Sanuuuuuuuuu, I am soooooooo Kawaiiiiiiii!
wow, i mean... wow this is perfect for home cooking, im 13 y/o and i have a passion for sushi since 2 years now and trust me, this is a wonderful app... if you like sushi, dont even waste your time reading this and get it NOW! this helps me learn.
Easy to navigate, informative. Missing some common types though, and some local variants and such--it could be a lot more comprehensive, but its got most of the most common types. Conspicuously absent: pickled daikon (takuwan I think), enoki mushroom, teriyaki shiitake mushroom, yam, yam tempura, BC roll, temaki, futomaki, inarizushi. Also a few corrections and points that should be noted: 1. Specially bred non-toxic or less toxic varieties of fugu are available in some areas. 2. Surimi, though most often found in the form of imitation crab or lobster, is any simulated food product created from a paste usually of cold water groundfish, modified with an enzyme into a rubbery substance, and flavoured. Apart from crab and lobster, chicken, fish cake and shrimp surimi are also common. But only crab and lobster surimi are commonly found in sushi. 3. Various rolls mentioned in the app are by no means always found in a California Roll variant form. Often, ingredients such as shrimp tempura, crab tempura etc are found alone, or accompanied by tobiko and/or spicy mayo; when they contain avocado and cucumber, theyre usually called by other names.

Some bad moments

I used to like this app. Havent used it for a while. Used it today and accidentally tapped on a ad that popped up intrusively. I hate that. Goodbye app. Suggestion to author; you can have ads that are less intrusive. I would click on an ad thats interesting. I do not appreciate stuffing an ad in from of my face as having me accidentally clicking on it.
I was quite excited to see that Sushipedia was finally updating their app. With the new icon, I assumed there would also be a complete redesign of the content within (updated pics, descriptions, new types of sushi, etc.). But no. The icon is childish and goes against the very essence of what sushi stands for, plus the content within hasnt changed a bit. Congratulations, app makers...this one just got itself deleted.
What happen to style and taste? Why not create an icon featuring a Geisha girl? That would be better than a "Cowboy Be Bop" scared Sushi! Bad icon, or is this the new universal symbol for day old sushi? How about creating an app with real innovation? Why not link to Yelp for great Sushi near my current location? Cant wait to see what 2.0 will bring.
Ok I BOUGHT this app when the developer spoke on a forum how dedicated he was to this app. He then kept saying how he was going to wait to make one large fantastic update versus smaller ones. Well...now I see he sold the app and now has ADs and wants us to upgrade to the pro version, wherever that is, which I already thought I had purchased. What a rip, I invested in a app I never completely recieved and now has ADs. I was also trying to support a small developer. Lesson: never buy an app based on future features, no matter how much the developer promises, buy for whats on the table. I wont support this new developer with these practices. DELETED!!
Cant view full screen images on iOS7, says image server unavailable, tries to pass it off as a wifi problem. Please update!
Updated version only saves while app is open. Once closed. All saves are deleted. Bad update.
